Do I need Slack to use BuyerRooms?
No. Slack is optional. Email alerts to your work email are on by default and cover the same events.
What does the Slack connection do?
It posts BuyerRooms alerts into one channel in your own Slack workspace (for example, #deals):
- Room opened: a prospect opened a room.
- Visit summary: what they viewed and for how long, after they leave.
- File uploaded: a prospect uploaded a file.
Who can connect Slack?
Only the team owner (the first user at your domain, or whoever ownership was transferred to). Other members see a read-only status, for example "Slack: connected to #deals".
How do I connect Slack?
- Go to Settings → Integrations (
https://buyerrooms.com/app/settings/integrations). - Click Add to Slack.
- Slack opens its own approval screen. Sign in to your workspace if asked, choose one channel from the "Post to" dropdown, and click Allow.
- You return to BuyerRooms, which shows "Connected to #channel-name".
- Click Send test message. A test post should appear in the channel within a minute.
- Choose the alerts you want: Room opened, Visit summary, File uploaded. All three are on by default.
What can BuyerRooms see in my Slack?
Nothing. BuyerRooms asks Slack only for the incoming webhook permission, which is post-only: it can post messages into the one channel you picked. It can't read messages, see other channels, or see your member list.
Do I need to be a Slack admin?
Not usually. Some workspaces only allow approved apps. If yours does, Slack asks your Slack admin to approve BuyerRooms. BuyerRooms can't approve it for you.
Can I post to more than one channel, or send different rooms to different channels?
No. At launch there's one Slack channel per team, and you can't route different rooms to different channels.
Can I connect a private channel?
Yes, as long as you're a member of the private channel when you pick it in Slack's "Post to" dropdown.
How do I change the channel?
Click Disconnect (Settings → Integrations → Slack), then click Add to Slack again and pick the new channel.
How do I disconnect Slack?
Go to Settings → Integrations → Slack → Disconnect. Removing the BuyerRooms app inside Slack also disconnects it. Either way, email alerts keep working.
Slack alerts stopped arriving. What should I check?
- Check that your email alerts still arrive. If they do, tracking is working.
- Look at Settings → Integrations. If the channel was archived or deleted, or the BuyerRooms app was removed in Slack, BuyerRooms marks Slack as disconnected and emails the owner automatically.
- Reconnect with Add to Slack (owner only).
Renaming a channel doesn't break the connection.
Is Slack included on the Free plan?
Yes. Slack is included on both Free and Team. Every feature is on both plans; only the user and room limits differ.
Does BuyerRooms work with Microsoft Teams?
No. Microsoft Teams isn't available. Alerts go to email and, optionally, Slack.
